COLOURLOCK GLD-Solvent is a highly effective liquid solvent for professionals and experienced users in leather restoration. This 250 ml pack is ideal for larger projects where more extensive dye transfer from textiles needs to be removed or large areas of leather need to be prepared for new colour.
Removes the most stubborn stains: Effectively tackles dye transfer from jeans, belts and handbags as well as marker stains.
Dissolves the top coat: An essential step in professional leather repair – it prepares the surface so the new colour bonds perfectly.
Versatile use: Can be used for cleaning as well as for correcting flaws in freshly applied colour (dissolving unevenness).
Economical pack: The 250 ml volume suits detailing studios and upholstery workshops.
The product is primarily intended for pigmented (smooth) leather:
Leather repair and restoration: Breaking down old pigment before recolouring.
Deep cleaning: Removing foreign pigments that have penetrated the finish.
Surface correction: Smoothing rough spots on an old finished surface.
Cleaning test: Before using GLD, always try cleaning the area with a standard cleaner (e.g. COLOURLOCK Strong Cleaner). If the stains are still visible, proceed with GLD.
Compatibility test: Before applying to the whole area, test the product in a hidden spot. Watch how quickly it reacts with the original colour.
Cleaning procedure: Apply a small amount of GLD to a clean, white microfibre cloth. Wipe the surface carefully with minimal pressure.
Note on dissolving: GLD softens and dissolves the original colour. If colour starts transferring to the cloth, the surface will need recolouring (e.g. with a Leather Fresh tinting kit).
Stopping the reaction: Once the desired result is achieved, it is important to stop the process with a standard leather cleaner (Leather Cleaner) so the solvent does not penetrate deep into the leather.
Final preparation: After evaporation and cleaning, the surface is ideally prepared for applying pigments and protective finishes.
Material check: Never use on aniline leather, nubuck or suede (risk of deep greasy stains).
Personal protective equipment: Wear gloves when working and ensure adequate ventilation.
Protect from extremes: Store at room temperature. Protect from frost, direct sunlight and heat sources (flammable).
Keep out of the reach of children.
