GLD removes stains from jeans, belts, bags or pens. A solvent for experienced users. Can be used to remove the top coat and pigments. Removes stubborn leather stains, handy pen with a felt tip, also suitable for finishing repairs.
COLOURLOCK GLD-Solvent Pen is a highly effective solvent in a handy pen format, intended for experienced users and professionals in leather restoration. It is designed to remove stubborn stains that ordinary cleaners cannot shift and to precisely prepare the surface before a colour repair.
Handy pen format: Allows pinpoint application without wasting product.
Extreme cleaning power: Removes dye transfer from jeans, belts and handbags as well as pen and marker stains.
Preparation before recolouring: Effectively breaks down the old top coat and pigment, ensuring maximum adhesion of the new colour.
Professional standard: An essential tool for partial repairs and leather touch-ups.
The product is intended for pigmented (smooth) leather in the following cases:
Removing dye transfer: Typically blue staining from jeans on light-coloured seats.
Writing instrument marks: Ink pens, markers and crayons.
Cleaning edges and seams: Where most grease and old build-up accumulates.
Softening old layers: Preparation before applying Leather Fresh (tinting colour).
Initial cleaning: Before using GLD, try cleaning the surface with a standard cleaner (Strong Cleaner). If cleaning is not successful, use the GLD Pen.
Stability test: Always test the effect in a hidden spot first! GLD dissolves colour, so watch how much the surface is affected.
Application: Gently run the pen tip over the stain. For larger areas, apply GLD to a clean microfibre cloth and wipe the surface with light pressure.
Process control: As soon as the colour on the leather starts to feel tacky or transfers to the cloth, stop cleaning. At this point the surface is ready for colour restoration.
Neutralisation: We recommend stopping the GLD reaction immediately by wiping the area with a standard cleaner (Leather Cleaner) to prevent deep damage to the leather structure.
Colour restoration: After using GLD, it is almost always necessary to apply a new coat of colour (Leather Fresh) to the area and then seal it.
Beware of wearing through: Too much pressure or prolonged exposure can etch the leather down to the fibres. Work with care.
Protection: Wear protective gloves. Do not inhale the vapours and work with a window open.
Not suitable for: Napped leather (nubuck, suede) and delicate open-pored aniline leather, where permanent stains could form.
Storage: Close the pen tightly after use so it does not dry out. Protect from frost and high temperatures.
