DINITROL 9100 is a one-component, high-modulus polyurethane adhesive for direct glazing. 600 ml foil sausage. Safe drive-away after 30 minutes – even with a passenger airbag, increases body stiffness by 30–50 %, enough for a complete replacement – no need to change packs halfway through the job.

Description

DINITROL 9100 is a one-component, moisture-curing polyurethane adhesive for direct glazing of vehicle windows. It builds strength quickly and has a high modulus.

It adheres well to paintwork, has a low odour and high elasticity. It contains no solvents or PVC and resists ageing and weathering.

Hand the vehicle back in half an hour

The safe drive-away time is 30 minutes — even for vehicles with a passenger airbag (Safe-Drive-Away-Time according to FMVSS 212/208, at 23 °C and 50 % humidity).

At ambient temperatures from −17 to +35 °C, allow 1 hour for vehicles with a passenger airbag.

Higher body stiffness

Thanks to its high modulus, it increases the torsional stiffness of the body by a further 30 to 50 %. The bonded glass therefore does its job as part of the vehicle structure.

The adhesive also has low electrical conductivity, which prevents contact corrosion between the glass and the body.

Usable even in freezing conditions

The adhesive can be used at ambient temperatures from −18 to 45 °C. The material itself should be at 15–35 °C during application, so let it warm up to room temperature before use.

Mandatory training before use

The product contains isocyanates. Since 24 August 2023, adequate training is required before industrial or professional use. The adhesive is for professional use only.

600 ml foil sausage

The foil sausage requires a gun designed for foil packs — it will not fit a standard cartridge gun. Once empty, only the compressed foil is left, so the workshop produces considerably less waste than with plastic cartridges.

The 600 ml pack is enough for a complete glass replacement without interruption — something you will appreciate with a 13-minute open time. For smaller jobs, the 400 ml foil sausage will do.

Surface preparation

The bonding surface must be clean, dry and free of dust, oil and grease.

Thoroughly clean the ceramic frit of the new glass with DINITROL 582 Special Cleaner, which removes stubborn dirt from both the glass and the ceramic print.

Depending on the system, this is followed by an activator or primer — for example DINITROL 520 KLEENACT or DINITROL 530 PRIME B. The full range can be found in the surface preparation category. Follow the glass replacement procedure and the pre-treatment table.

Glass without a ceramic frit or equivalent protection needs additional UV protection.

Application

  • Insert the foil sausage into a gun designed for foil packs and cut it according to the gun instructions
  • Work with the adhesive warmed to room temperature, ideally 15–35 °C
  • Apply a triangular bead to get an even bond line thickness
  • Set the glass before a skin starts to form — that is, within approximately 13 minutes. With this adhesive you have less time for fitting than with slower types
  • Heat and higher humidity shorten the open time, while cold and dry air extend it

What you will need

For the foil sausage you need a gun with a sufficiently long barrel — choose one in the application equipment category. With such a short open time, a pneumatic gun pays off twice over.

For removing the original glass and adhesive residue, you will find cutting wires, knives, scrapers and dashboard protectors in the auto glass tools category.

Wear nitrile gloves and respiratory protection — the adhesive contains isocyanates.

Which adhesive to choose

9100 — vehicle ready after 30 minutes even with an airbag, higher body stiffness. Open time 13 minutes.

DINITROL 501 FC — vehicle ready after one hour (after 3 with airbags), open time 15 minutes.

DINITROL 500 — vehicle ready after 2 hours (after 4 with airbags), but with a 25-minute open time for precise glass positioning.

Frequently asked questions – When can I hand the vehicle back to the customer?

After 30 minutes, even for vehicles with a passenger airbag — at 23 °C and 50 % humidity. At ambient temperatures from −17 to +35 °C, allow one hour.

What does high modulus mean?

The cured adhesive is stiffer and deforms less under stress. The bonded glass therefore carries load and increases the torsional stiffness of the body by a further 30 to 50 %.

Do I need a different gun for a foil sausage than for a cartridge?

Yes. The foil sausage goes into a gun with a barrel designed for foil packs. It will not fit a standard cartridge gun. When choosing a gun, check that the barrel is long enough for the 600 ml pack.

Which cleaner, activator or primer do I need with it?

That depends on the substrate and on whether you are bonding to glass, ceramic frit or paint. The products are not interchangeable — always follow the pre-treatment table for the specific substrate. The full range can be found in the surface preparation category.
