Behind the gates of Forge Motorsport

On the occasion of visiting the largest motorsport event, the Goodwood Festival Of Speed, we decided to stop by an important supplier such as Forge Motorsport. Founded 25 years ago, Forge Motorsport supplies the tuning and motorsport scene with high-quality parts, whether from the visual or performance side.

Our meeting began at the store, where we were greeted by friendly staff ready to show us more than just a few products on display. After a pleasant conversation, we were joined by Luke Amon, who has been part of the Forge team since 2011 and is in charge of Development, i.e. the development of parts and strategic planning of the entire operation of the company. At the beginning, we went through the hall where 3D scanning of new cars takes place so that the development, installation and subsequent testing of new products can begin.

Subsequently, we moved to the place of the main processing of raw parts, which Forge produces itself or has delivered in the form of unprocessed aluminium blanks or other materials necessary for the production of parts. The hall contains more than 10 CNC machines working 24 hours a day to satisfy the demand for tuning parts in Europe, the USA and Asia where Forge Motorsport operates. Prices for some of these machines exceed £250,000. On the occasion of the meeting, we had the opportunity to see one of these machines in motion, and it is truly incredible how a simple aluminium billet can be transformed into a functional part that increases the vehicle's performance.

The production line is directly adjacent to smaller stocks that are part of complete tuning kits, such as separate silicone hoses, which, when completed with machined parts, create a sports air intake or piping for the intercooler or a water cooler. Forge does not produce their own silicone hoses, however, the manufacturer of these is literally "a neighbour across the road". After all the necessary components have been produced, the production moves to the completion centre. At this workplace, the parts receive their final form. A number of simple parts such as the blow-off valve consist of several sensitive parts that must be carefully lubricated, put in place and tightened to the right specification.

Hundreds to thousands of parts pass through this place every week, and in addition to completion, the final production control also takes place here. All parts are produced mainly on request, in order not to overstock.

Since Forge is growing every year, they have several production halls in the area where they are constantly working. So we moved to the place of production of intercoolersradiators, and chargecoolers. Forge makes its own cores according to the requirements of the given application. These cores are stored and then welded according to the prepared hooves. In the same way, various water tanks, surge tanks or other components that require welding for their completion or just fitting with fittings, plugs or holders are processed at this place. The hall is equipped with a powerful ventilation system, as dangerous gases are produced during aluminium welding. At the time of our visit, we saw the modification of the Audi RS3's bumper brace, which is necessary for the installation of a huge intercooler to cool the compressed air of the turbo.

In addition to manufacturing parts, Forge Motorsport also has a strong marketing staff. They had 2 cars at Goodwood, which were proudly presented with parts from their offer. These were the Nissan GTR R35 and the Toyota GT86 from the famous Drift Masters driver Steve "Baggsy" Biagioni. Both cars are equipped with water coolers, intercoolers, silicone hoses and other Forge components, which undergo stress tests every time these vehicles are driven, either at exhibitions or directly during the actual drift battles. Luke told us that after installing the intercooler in Baggsy's GT86, more HP was tuned at a lower boost pressure than before. This means that the intercooler cools a larger volume of air and at the same time feels less restrictive.

When you buy Forge products, you're not just buying a part, you're joining a unique global team of discerning consumers who truly understand value, quality and service, which makes using these parts a one-of-a-kind experience. The lifetime warranty on most Forge products shows that no compromises are made in development and manufacturing. We are a proud supplier of this brand and believe that together we will experience many more years in the motorsport parts market.
