DAVIES CRAIG mechanical fan switch (combo), 12/24V. Davies Craig switch turns the electric fan on and off at the set coolant temperature.
This value pack combines part numbers 0401 and 0409. It works with Thermatic Fans and Electric Water Pumps (EWP).
The mechanical switch senses the coolant temperature after it has passed through the engine block and before it enters the radiator. It fits directly into the radiator hose through the adaptor.
The switch can be set anywhere from 40 °C to 100 °C (104 °F to 212 °F).
The Mechanical Thermal Fan Switch (12V and 24V, part 0401) is mounted near the radiator, and its stainless steel probe goes inside the radiator hose. With the relay kit, the fan runs both on temperature and whenever the air conditioning is on.
With the Temperature Sensor Adaptor Kit (part 0409), you do not have to squeeze the probe between the radiator inlet and the radiator hose. The Inline Sensor Adaptor fits into the engine's top radiator hose.
The kit includes everything needed for a watertight and effective installation.
The switch needs a relay and a wiring harness to run the fan, and neither is included in the kit. For a single fan use part 1000 (12V) or 1001 (24V). For dual fans use part 1002 (12V) or 1003 (24V).
Used with an EWP, this switch does not change the pump speed with engine temperature. It only turns the pump on and off at the set temperature. For EWP control, the Digital Controller, part 8002, is recommended because it can manage both the EWP and the Thermatic Electric Fans.
