Description

DINITROL 520 KLEENACT is a clear solvent-based activator that cleans the bonding surface and improves adhesion at the same time. It is used for automotive glass replacement together with the black primer DINITROL 530.

Combined with the DINITROL 550 multi-primer, it also improves adhesion to various metals and plastics.

Do not use a cloudy activator

The activator reacts with atmospheric moisture, so it must be used within 5 days of first opening. Unopened, it keeps for 12 months.

If it turns milky due to moisture, it must not be used any further — it loses its ability to promote adhesion. Close the bottle tightly immediately after each use.

Use

• Apply the activator evenly to the ceramic edge of the glass with a clean, lint-free cloth
• Wipe off immediately with a second clean cloth
• Work at temperatures from +5 to +40 °C
• Allow a flash-off time of at least 10 minutes and carry out the next step within 24 hours at the latest
• Then apply the black primer. Close the bottle immediately after use

What you will need

You need lint-free wipes and DINITROL 530 black primer — you will find them in the surface preparation category.

The activator is highly flammable and may cause an allergic skin reaction — work in a well-ventilated area wearing nitrile gloves and eye protection.

FAQ – My activator has turned milky. Can I still use it?

No. Cloudiness means the activator has reacted with atmospheric moisture and lost its ability to promote adhesion. Using it would put the bond of the glass at risk.

Is the 1 litre pack worth it for me?

Only if you replace glass every day. Once opened, the activator degrades within five days, so with lower usage the 250 ml or 100 ml bottle is more economical.

Is the activator alone enough, or do I also need a primer?

For glass replacement, 520 is used together with the 530 black primer, and for metals and plastics with the 550 multi-primer. The pre-treatment table specifies which procedure applies to a given substrate.

How soon do I have to continue after the activator?

No sooner than after 10 minutes of flash-off and no later than within 24 hours. After a longer time, the activator must be applied again.
