DINITROL RC900 rust stabiliser 400 ml spray

DINITROL RC 900 Spray is a deep-penetrating rust converter for treating corroded ferrous surfaces. It converts residual corrosion into a stable organic iron complex and, once dry, forms a firm base for further anti-corrosion protection or painting. It actively converts rust and stabilises residual corrosion after mechanical cleaning. It penetrates deep into the pores of the corroded surface. The resulting film can be painted over and is suitable as a base for paints and anti-corrosion coatings.

Description

DINITROL RC 900 Spray is a rust converter based on an organic chelate complex and epoxy resin. It is intended for treating corroded ferrous surfaces from which loose rust, scale, grease and dirt have been removed.

It actively converts residual corrosion into a stable organic iron complex. Once dry, it forms a hard, firmly adhering film that acts as a barrier against further corrosion and also provides a suitable base for further protective layers.

Penetrates 7–10× deeper. It reaches pores and micro-cracks that standard rust converters cannot get into.

10-year shelf life. In an unopened pack at 15–25 °C, so you can safely put an opened can aside for the next repair.

Base for paint and anti-corrosion protection. The film is suitable under most standard paint systems and DINITROL anti-corrosion products.

Free of lead, zinc and chromium. The formula contains none of these heavy metals.

When to use RC 900

RC 900 is intended for oxidised ferrous parts where firmly bonded residual corrosion remains after mechanical cleaning.

It is particularly suitable where it is not possible or practical to remove all corrosion down to bare metal, but loose and flaking parts must always be removed before application.

Preparing the corroded surface and application

The quality of the result depends on thorough surface preparation. RC 900 must not be applied to thick or flaking rust.

Key Features

  • Remove loose rust and scale with a wire brush, sandpaper or sandblasting
  • After mechanical cleaning, only slight discolouration or a thin layer of residual corrosion may remain
  • The surface must be free of dust and grease. Acetone or paint thinner can be used for final cleaning
  • The metal temperature during application must not be lower than +10 °C
  • Shake the can thoroughly before use
  • Apply from a distance of approximately 25 cm in several successive coats
  • After approximately 1 hour the surface is dust-dry and another coat can be applied if needed

Base for further painting and anti-corrosion protection

After drying completely, approximately 24 hours at 20 °C, a firm film is formed that is suitable as a base for most standard paint systems and most DINITROL anti-corrosion products.

For underbody repairs, once the corrosion has been stabilised you can continue with a suitable product from the DINITROL underbody protection category.

The converter does not replace mechanical removal of loose rust. All loose and flaking corrosion must be removed before application. RC 900 is intended for the chemical stabilisation of rust that remains firmly bonded to the metal surface after cleaning.

How to deal with underbody corrosion?

When repairing, it is important to prepare the corroded surface properly and then choose a suitable final anti-corrosion protection.

Frequently Asked Questions – Do I have to remove rust before application?

Loose, thick and flaking rust must be removed. RC 900 is intended for stabilising residual corrosion that remains firmly bonded to the metal substrate.

How many m² does one can cover?

Consumption is approximately 60 g/m² per coat. The exact coverage depends on the complexity of the surface, the number of coats and the application method.

How long does an unopened can last?

Up to 10 years when stored at 15–25 °C in the unopened original packaging. Protect the can from direct sunlight and temperatures above 50 °C.

What is the difference between RC 900 and DINITROL ML?

RC 900 chemically converts residual rust and forms a hard base for further coatings. DINITROL ML is a penetrating anti-corrosion wax intended mainly for cavities, gaps and corroded areas.
