Clay is the simplest and at the same time the most effective way to remove chemically aggressive dirt from your paintwork, for which ordinary washing is not enough. Flying rust, asphalt spots, sap from trees and other aggressive impurities stick to the surface of your paint and if you do not remove them with clay, they will damage your paint over time and it will not be possible to remove them except by sanding and subsequent painting. Thanks to this set, you can remove chemically aggressive dirt very easily and effortlessly, and your paintwork will be as smooth as glass!

Meguiars clay gently and effortlessly removes chemically aggressive impurities from the surface of paint, glass, chrome and most hard surfaces, the so-called "contaminants".

What is clay used for?

  • Clay removes chemically aggressive impurities (so-called "contaminants") that stick to the paint surface and cannot be removed by regular washing or mechanical polishing.
  • By using clay, you decontaminate the body surface and achieve a surface as smooth as glass.
  • A perfectly smooth surface can subsequently be polished better, and wax or other paint protection will last significantly longer on it.

How do I find out that it is necessary to use clay?

  • After washing and drying the car, run an open palm over the bodywork. If you hear a characteristic rustling sound and feel bumps and unevenness coming out of the paintwork, then it's time to use clay.
  • The roughness of the surface is caused by contaminants that are stuck to the body surface (flying rust, brake dust, pitch from trees, asphalt, etc.). These impurities cannot be removed by regular washing or mechanical polishing. Day after day, week after week, impurities are combined with the car's paintwork and it is necessary to remove them before they penetrate into the lower layers of the paintwork, from where it will no longer be possible to remove them without repainting.

What imperfections does clay remove?

How does clay work?

  • Clay captures contaminants and carefully removes them from paintwork and other hard surfaces.
  • Decontamination can achieve a surface that is as smooth as glass.

Will I not damage my paint when working with clay?

  • By following a very easy work procedure, you will achieve a dazzling result without damaging the paint in any way!

Is clay abrasive or does it have abrasive capabilities?

  • No, clay is not abrasive and has no grinding abilities. Therefore, it does not weaken the paint in any way and there is no danger of damaging the surface you are working on.

How often should I use clay?

  • There is no fixed interval for using clay. The need for its use depends on many factors (how often you drive the car, where you park, how often you wash the car, etc.). The best way to determine the need to use clay is to run the palm of your hand over a clean body surface.

How long does one clay cube last?

  • The lifetime of each cube is limited and depends on the degree of its contamination.
  • The older clay is full of trapped contaminants, which it removes from the surface of the body. Clay is then dark and no longer so soft and smooth to the touch. Such clay, or clay that falls on the ground, in your own interest, exchange it for a new one, otherwise, there is a risk of scratching the paint surface!

Is it necessary to use clay before waxing the car?

  • Impurities associated with the surface of the varnish prevent its shine and perfect reflection of light. If you use wax on such a dirty surface, you will never achieve the desired result. On the other hand, varnish freed of all surface impurities with clay is ready for surface treatment with polish and wax, so you can achieve maximum results.

What is the best lubricant to use with clay?

  • For best results, the enclosed A3316 Meguiar's Quik Detailer is intended.

Does clay remove the wax layer?

  • Yes, clay is intended to remove all surface impurities, and at the same time it also removes the protective layer applied earlier. We strongly recommend that after using the clay, the lacquer is preserved again with wax or another suitable preparation for its maximum protection.

Does clay remove scratches and surface defects of the paint?

  • No, clay does not remove any subsurface paint defects.
  • Remember that scratches, stains, holograms and other defects are located below the surface of the paint. For these defects, it is necessary to subsequently use one of Meguiar's polishes.
  • To achieve the best results, it is recommended to first decontaminate the paint with clay (to remove surface, chemically aggressive impurities) and then the correct polishes to remove paint defects.

How to store clay?

  • Clay should be stored in a dry and clean place. It must also be protected from dust and dirt.

The set includes:

G1001 Meguiar's Clay Bar, 80 g

  • Clay is a special type of material that removes everything from your paintwork that ordinary washing cannot handle - asphalt spots, flying rust, sap from trees, etc.
  • After washing and drying, is the lacquer surface rough and not smooth like glass? Then it's time to use clay!
  • Sufficiently lubricate the paint surface with the included detailer
  • The use of clay is not associated with any effort - you only need to simply "stroke" the lacquer with the included cube and all impurities are gone!

A3316 Meguiar's Quik Detailer, 473 ml

  • Product designed to lubricate clay
  • At the same time, it is used for routine maintenance of your car - it safely removes light dirt and prevents paint damage when removing dirt, such as fingerprints, dust, smudges and others
  • With this preparation, you also encourage the wax layer on the car and significantly extend the life of the wax protection

Application steps:

  • Make a flat circle with a diameter of approx. 5 cm from the clay cube.
  • Work on a part of the body approx. 50 x 50 cm in size, after treating it continue on to the next part.
  • Lubricate the surface of the paint and clay sufficiently with a detailer, and wipe the moistened surface with clay.
  • When applying the clay, do not apply too much pressure!
  • Work in parallel movements, approx. 15-20 cm long. Wipe the entire section first in one direction and then wipe the same section perpendicular to the original direction.
  • Finally, wipe the entire section dry with a microfibre cloth.
  • If some impurities resist, repeat the procedure, but do not increase the pressure on the clay cube under any circumstances!

Tips for using clay:

  • Always work in the shade and on a body that is cool to the touch.
  • Never press on the clay while working!
  • If a cube of clay falls on the ground, do not try to clean it and throw it away. Clay absorbs so much dirt when it comes into contact with the ground that it can subsequently damage your paint!
  • Always sufficiently moisten the surface of the paint and clay with the detailer.
