DINITROL 500 is a one-component, moisture-curing polyurethane adhesive for direct glazing of automotive glass. 600 ml foil pack. 25 minutes to position the glass – plenty of time to adjust it into place, enough for a complete replacement – no need to change packs mid-job, less waste than a cartridge – only the foil is left once empty.
DINITROL 500 is a one-component polyurethane adhesive that cures with atmospheric moisture. It is designed for direct glazing of automotive glass and other bonded joints in vehicle manufacturing.
It adheres well to paint, has a low odour and high elasticity. It contains no solvents or PVC, resists ageing and weathering, and contributes to the torsional rigidity of the body.
The open time is approximately 25 minutes and a skin only starts to form after 30 minutes. This gives you time to position the glass precisely and adjust it, especially with large or complex-shaped glass.
The adhesive works from 10 °C, so you can use it in a cooler workshop too.
A vehicle without airbags can be handed over after 2 hours, a vehicle with passenger airbags after 4 hours — Safe-Drive-Away-Time according to FMVSS 212/208.
The values apply at 23 °C and 50 % relative humidity. In a cooler or drier workshop the time is longer.
The foil pack requires a gun designed for foil packs — it will not fit a standard cartridge gun. Once empty, only the compressed foil is left, so the workshop produces much less waste than with plastic cartridges.
The 600 ml pack is enough for a complete glass replacement without interruption. For smaller jobs, the 310 ml cartridge is the right choice.
The bonding surface must be clean, dry and free of dust, oil and grease.
Thoroughly clean the ceramic edge of the new glass with DINITROL 582 Special Cleaner, which removes stubborn contamination from both the glass and the ceramic frit.
Depending on the system, this is followed by an activator or primer — for example DINITROL 520 KLEENACT or DINITROL 530 PRIME B. You will find the full range in the surface preparation category. Follow the glass replacement procedure and the pre-treatment table.
Glass without a ceramic frit or equivalent protection needs additional UV protection.
What you will need
For the foil pack you need a gun with a sufficiently long barrel — choose one from the application equipment category. For frequent work a pneumatic gun is worth it, as it doses more precisely and the bead is more even.
For removing the original glass and old adhesive residue, you will find cut-out wires, knives, scrapers and dashboard protectors in the auto glass tools category.
Wear nitrile gloves and respiratory protection — the adhesive contains isocyanates.
DINITROL 500 or 501 FC?
500 — open time 25 minutes, vehicle ready after 2 hours (4 with airbags). More time to position the glass.
501 FC — open time 15 minutes, vehicle ready after just one hour (3 with airbags). Faster workshop turnaround.

Yes. The foil pack goes into a gun with a barrel designed for foil packs. It will not fit a standard cartridge gun. When choosing one, check that the barrel is long enough for a 600 ml pack.
A vehicle without airbags after 2 hours, with passenger airbags after 4 hours. The values apply at 23 °C and 50 % humidity — in cold and dry conditions the time is longer.
For the working time. An open time of 25 minutes and skin formation only after 30 minutes give you room to position the glass precisely — you will appreciate this with large and complex-shaped glass. The adhesive also works from as low as 10 °C.
It depends on the substrate and whether you are bonding to glass, ceramic frit or paint. The products are not interchangeable — always follow the pre-treatment table for the specific substrate. You will find the full range in the surface preparation category.
